Come on Guys, Lets have a party with this awesome Street food from Mumbai, India..... Indian cuisine encompasses a wide variety of regional cuisines native to India. Given the range of diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines vary significantly from each other and use locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also heavily influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. PavBhaji has many variations in ingredients and garnishes, but is essentially a spiced mixture of mashed vegetables in a thick gravy cooked on a flat griddle (Tava) served hot with a buttered soft white bread roll. PavBhaji is a fast food dish from Maharashtra, India, consisting of a
vegetable curry served with a soft bread roll (Pav).
Variations on Pav Bhaji include:
Cheese Pav Bhaji, with cheese on top of the bhaji
Fried Pav Bhaji, with the pav tossed in the bhaji
Paneer Pav Bhaji, with paneer cheese in the bhaji
Mushroom Pav Bhaji, with mushrooms in the bhaji
Jain Pav Bhaji, without onions and garlic and with plantains instead of potatoes.
OMG!! There are Sooooo Many, Well, I love Pav bhaji a lot...And If you are going to take a tour of Aamchi Mumbai, Do try this Awesome Street food!!
So For that we will need:
Ingredients
For The Bhaji
2 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp oil
3/4 cup finely Crushed Onion Paste
1/2 cup Roughly Crushed capsicum
1 1/2 cups Roughly Crushed tomatoes with 9-10 Garlic Cloves
1 1/2 tbsp pav bhaji masala
2 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
2 1/2 cup boiled Vegetables (Potatoes, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Carrot, Brinjal)
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (Dhania)
4-5 Whole dry Red chilies, deseeded
For The Pav
8 pav
8 tsp butter for cooking
1 tsp pav bhaji masala
For Serving
1 cup finely chopped onions
4 lemon wedges
For The Garnish
4 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
Method
1.Line up all the ingredients.
2. Heat the butter and oil in a kadhai.
4. Add the capsicum and sauté for 1 more minute.
5. Add the tomatoes and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, mash well using a potato masher.
6. Add the salt, Pav bhaji masala, chilli powder and cook for another 2 minutes.
7. Add the Boiled Vegetables and mix well and cook along with 1/3 cup of water for 1 to 2 minutes, while mashing it with the help of a masher.
Add the coriander, mix well and cook for 1 minute.
For the Pav
Slit 2 pavs vertically and keep aside. Heat a large tava, add 2 tsp of butter and slit open the pavs and place on it. Cook on a medium flame till they turn light brown and crisp on both the sides.
